After [[Flash Thompson]] bonded with the symbiote, he becomes Venom's permanent host.
Venom/[[Harry Osborn]] was also the black suited [[Spider-Man]] at one point. Harry later transformed into the true form of Venom when rage took over.

Venom is a symbiote created by Doctor Octopus for Norman Osborn in hopes of replicating Spider-Man's powers for the latter's Spider-Soldiers project. After retrieving a blood sample from Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus isolated the deadliest aspect of Spider-man's DNA to give the lifeform distilled aggression, making it incredibly savage and difficult to control. As a symbiote, it has the ability to latch onto humans and take control of their bodies as its hosts.
