There are several policies in place regarding the deletion of content on the Ultimate Spider-Man Wiki. Deletion refers the removal of the content, including all previous versions, of a page (an article, image, etc.). Administrators are the only ones who can perform a deletion, but all users can nominate a page for deletion by putting a {{Delete}} tag on it. A page's deletion can be reverted by an admin if an error occurs.

Before deleting, check the page history first to see if you can revert to an older version instead of deleting the entire page. The community can consider turning problematic pages into relevant redirects as an alternative to deletion. If the reason for deletion is not clear, please put a note on the page's talk page explaining things, and preserving the deleted content, pointing them to the sandbox in cases of tests. If the reason for deletion is debatable, the community may discuss the on the page's discussion page to determine if the page should be kept, be merged with another page, or deleted.

Reasons for Deletion[]

  1. The pages do not adhere to the wiki's rules or guidelines.
  2. Blatant vandalism (see also dealing with vandalism), spam, or advertising.
  3. Reposted content that was already deleted according to policy.
  4. No meaningful content or history (e.g. random characters). This includes very short pages with little or no context (e.g. "He is a funny man that has created Factory and the Hacienda. And, by the way, his wife is great.")
  5. Copyright violations (e.g. plagiarized content). Pages that cannot be properly attributed will also be deleted.
  6. Articles that are being used as repositories for images.
  7. Test pages (e.g. "Can I really create a page here?").
  8. Pages that have been moved to another wikia because they were uploaded in the wrong place.
  9. Temporarily deleting a page in order to move a page.
  10. Broken redirects or ones caused by typos during a page move.
  11. Images that are unused, broken, and/or duplicates. Additionally, any unlicensed images without a proper source. See the image policy for more information.
  12. Empty or frivolous categories.
  13. Redundant/useless templates.
  14. Talk pages of already deleted articles.
  15. User talk pages of non-logged in users where the message is no longer relevant. This is to avoid confusing new users who happen to edit with that same IP address.
  16. Userpages and talkpages on request of the user, where there is no significant abuse, and no administrative need to retain the page. See the wiki's users policy for more information.
