Mary Jane Watson, commonly referred to as "MJ", is a student at Midtown High School. She is best friends with Peter Parker and Harry Osborn. Mary Jane aspires to be a journalist for Daily Bugle Communications in the future.

When the Carnage symbiote infected New York City with its fragments, it possesses Mary Jane, transforming her into the "Carnage Queen" before she manages to overcome the symbiote's control. Afterwards, Mary Jane begins training to use the Carnage symbiote in secrecy under Curt Connors's supervision, dubbing herself "Spider-Woman". With encouragement from Spider-Man, Mary Jane joins the Web-Warriors and enrolls in S.H.I.E.L.D. Academy to learn how to become a superhero.
