- This is the article on the character from the main dimension. For the character's vampire counterpart, head to Vampire Iron Fist.
Daniel "Danny" Rand is the heir to Rand Industries, the leading corporation in the development of aerospace technology in America. When Danny was a child, he left his luxurious lifestyle to study the mystic and martial arts of K'un-Lun. Danny learned that he would one day "usher in an era of peace as the king of K'un-Lun" if he proves himself worthy of the power of the Iron Fist. After defeating the dragon Shao-Lao, Danny earns the power of the Iron Fist and is given a year to settle his affairs with the outside world. However, choosing to gain more worldly knowledge and utilize his skills in a beneficial manner, Danny joins S.H.I.E.L.D. to learn how to become a superhero and takes on the code name "Iron Fist".
When Danny had to compete against his fellow acolyte Scorpion for the throne of K'un-Lun, Danny is secretly blinded by Scorpion with poison during the test and nominates his team leader, Spider-Man, to be his champion. After Spider-Man prevailed against Scorpion and exposed his deceit, Danny wins the throne via proxy. Upon realizing that the outside world is not as dishonorable as they originally believed, the elders of K'un-Lun allow Danny to remain with S.H.I.E.L.D., who vows to return to K'un-Lun to claim the throne after one more year.
